Henkaa Legacy Project

The Henkaa Legacy Project is an initiative focused on empowering women and girls to achieve their dreams, with its first major effort involving gifts of convertible dresses to help women re-entering the workforce and youth who may not have access to formal events like prom.

It's not just a dress. It's a movement.

Fourteen years ago, Henkaa entered the fashion scene as a DISRUPTOR. We created:

  • innovative made in Canada convertible dresses women and girls wear and rewear for many occasions and celebrations, from casual to formal, professional to play
  • dresses that were not only size flexible, but size inclusive
  • equality pricing, where the cost to customers was the same no matter their size

We led the way in celebrating diverse women who represented Henkaa on our website, marketing materials and in-person events - because we were and still are about real, authentic people.

We wanted fashion to be accessible, easy, playful and fun. And we DID it.

Introducing the Henkaa Legacy Project

YOU, our community, created something beautiful with us. You believed in us and our vision to help women and girls create a life they love to live.

Now we are disrupting the industry again - it is a fact that we are closing our store on December 13; but that doesn't mean that we can't continue to do what we can to uplift the community, WITH you, our community.

Henkaa will live on each time someone wears a convertible dress - and you've loved wearing your Henkaa in so many different ways for special moments over the years! You've found value in our vast video tutorial library and you've been inspired by our blogs.

So what can we do to help MORE people discover and access the magic of Henkaa, even as we close?

We are doing it through the Henkaa Legacy Project. Will you be a part of our legacy?

Join the Henkaa Legacy Project

Before our remaining stock is completely sold out, we want to give back and help make fashion accessible to more people.

With your help, Henkaa is committed to gift a minimum of 150 new dresses from the remainder of our limited inventory to organizations including (but not limited to) Dress for Success to help women with professional attire and New Circles to support youth in attending an important milestone in their life - prom.

Two Ways To Join the Legacy

Sponsor a dress on your own for someone in need, OR support with others to sponsor dresses together.

Your contribution will help with the packaging and safe delivery of dresses, dress training and styling resources and the continued protection and accessibility of our website, online tutorials and blogs for the Henkaa community. You'll also be the first to find out about upcoming new initiatives.
