Real Weddings: Julia & Jason's Periwinkle Blue Wedding
This Wedding Wednesday, we’re making a slight change. Instead of just featuring a single snapshot of a bridal party, we wanted to show you a deeper look into a wedding day. We’re asking brides to tell us their stories of their big day! This week we’re starting with Julia and Jason’s sunny yellow and blue summer wedding.
When:
July 7, 2012
Where:
The Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario
The Bride’s Story: Before getting married I was told by friends and family what a blur my wedding day would be and to take the time to enjoy it. When the morning of my wedding day came and I saw nothing, but downpour as I had my make up done, I was shocked at how calm I felt. Rain or shine, I didn’t care. I was ready to run down that aisle and get the party started after spending the last year and a half planning it. Every moment is still crystal clear in my mind, from serving tea to my parents and my in-laws, to the look on my soon-to-be husband’s face as we did the big reveal of my dress at the Adamson Estate by the lake in Port Credit. When it was time to walk down the aisle in the Rose Garden at the Royal Botanical Gardens, the skies were clear and there at the end of aisle was Jason waiting for me with the warmest smile. With a quirky officiant we made it through all the formalities of the ceremony laughing. After our first dance rolled around and the cake was cut, it was smooth sailing as we spent the rest of the night, having a blast dancing and catching up with friends and family.
The day came together thanks to an amazing team of family, friends and vendors making sure every detail was on point. They helped the vision of my wedding become a reality with the beautiful centerpieces and bouquets that my bridesmaids helped make, to the beautiful cake my sister created for me, and the touching slide show my close friends created.
I’d like to think I’m a practical person so when I saw the Henkaa dress, my mind was made up. I wanted a dress that would suit all body types. Check. I wanted a dress in blue. Check. I wanted a dress that was affordable. Check. I wanted a dress that could be worn again. Check. My bridesmaids looked phenomenal.
Having Jason see me in my wedding dress was probably the most memorable moment that was also captured perfectly by my photographers from Renaissance Studios. It was in that moment that I felt that I was going to get married to my best friend.
