Real Weddings: Nicole & Benjamin Mauve Taupe Wedding

A day that started off with pouring rain, came full circle. As Nicole walked down the aisle the sun peeked out through the clouds and beamed down on her and the love of her life just in time for them to say 'I Do'. Can You Tell Us a Little About the Two of You?
I’m a Librarian and currently work in Halton Hills and Ben works in manufacturing in Stratford. We recently bought a home in Cambridge, Ontario and are enjoying exploring our new city. We met about six years ago when we both took a four-month summer job in the Columbia Valley at a resort in Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia. Ben worked in groundskeeping and I had a job at the front desk. We started as friends and quickly realized there was something more between us. We fell in love that summer in a beautiful setting exploring the mountains and having once in a lifetime adventures. We ended up driving back to Ontario together at the end of the summer and the rest is history!
Who Proposed, Can You Tell Us How It Happened?
Ben was completing a four-month internship in Calgary, Alberta from May-August 2017. I went out to visit him in June and we decided to make a day trip to Fairmont Hot Springs to explore where we had originally met. Little did I know that he was planning to propose! He recreated our first date by taking me on a hike to the Hoodoos which is a 3 km trail to the top of beautiful sandstone cliffs overlooking the valley. When we reached the top he asked me to take a panoramic shot of the scene on my phone. When I finished taking the shot and put down my phone he had pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. It was a really beautiful moment and something we will remember forever.
What Was the Theme or Look of Your Wedding?
We had both the ceremony and reception outdoors on the beautiful grounds behind the Aberfoyle Mill restaurant. The setting was complete with lush greenery and we went with soft neutrals to compliment our surroundings.
The venue had an island gazebo where the ceremony took place and the water in the background was so beautiful. We both love the outdoors and we selected this venue for its natural beauty.
Describe Your Day and How it Came Together?
The girls had an early start with hair and makeup beginning at 8am at the hotel. We had a fun morning listening to music and hanging out while we got ready. Around 1 pm we headed over to the venue to get dressed and take photos in the beautiful rustic setting in the restaurant where we had a private room upstairs. The boys got ready at the hotel and then waited out the rain in the tent. Did I mention it POURED all morning?! We were unsure whether we would have to move the ceremony inside the tent. Our decorator and all of the staff at the Mill really rallied to make our day beautiful despite the weather and moved décor and chairs in and out of the rain until it stopped about 10 minutes to 4 o’clock! Every little detail was so perfect and I was awe-struck at how well everything came together. The staff at the Aberfoyle Mill were so wonderful and accommodated our every need.
What Was Your Favorite Moment or Most Memorable Detail?
Our favorite moment by far was waiting out the rain because it stopped just before the ceremony began. The most memorable detail was walking down the aisle and turning to face Ben and the sun had come out! It was such a magical moment to begin with, but especially feeling the sun on our faces after such a rainy morning. It was a really special day spent with family and friends and I would not have changed a thing. We had so much fun dancing into the night until the last song played.
Why Did You Choose Henkaa?
I chose Henkaa because with 7 girls that live all over Ontario/Canada I did not want the stress of worrying about size and fit. I loved that they could wear the dresses any way they liked in a style that would flatter everyone. I actually selected the color scheme for the wedding based on the Mauve Taupe dresses! Such a beautiful color and fabric that look so lovely in all of our wedding photos. Henkaa has a great customer service team that were quick to respond to any questions we may have had.
We also ordered Mauve Taupe ties for the groomsmen from Henkaa and they looked great and complimented the girls.
