On today's edition of inspiring women, we're featuring one of our amazing Henkaa Stylepreneurs - Kari.
One of Henkaa's core values includes empowering women and we do this not only by providing women with staple items that last them a lifetime, but also by providing them with the opportunity to start their own business through our direct sales program. Kari has been working with us for a few years now and we're so excited to feature her on this edition of inspiring women!
Hi Kari! We want to get to know you, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hello! I currently live in Waunakee, Wisconsin. I have two daughters, a 19-year old who is currently at Earlham College in Indiana and a Sophomore in high school. My husband and I have been married 23 years and he has been in the army for 31 years now! We have a beautiful dog named Sky who completes the family. I'm generally very busy with my Wellness Coaching, high school Varsity Girls Basketball Coaching, EMT work, and Henkaa. Fun fact about me - I was a hand model in my 20's!
You're a trade show pro and also very experienced with Virtual Style Shoppes - can you tell us a bit about how these help your business?
Trade shows have been a gold mine of opportunities for me! I've met most of my clients either through referrals or through the trade shows I've worked. If you're going to work a trade show, the key thing is to follow up! Trade shows can get a little pricey, so you want to make sure that you make the most of the opportunity.
Virtual Style Shoppes have been a great way for me to help women all over the country, no matter their locations. Once they've received their dresses, we'll meet via Skype or FaceTime where I'll go over how to style the dresses and use accessories to make a completely customized look. It can get a little difficult at some points because we all know that technology can be a bit unreliable sometimes, but I've had so many laughs with so many wonderful bridal parties over how the look came together at the end.
I also find that the women in these groups tend to do a bit better because I'm not there to help them fix it every step of the way. They have to figure it out together - talk about team building!
You currently work 4 different positions! How do you balance juggling all of your businesses?
I'm naturally a very organized person and plan my week each Sunday. Everything I do is planned out and scheduled so I don't get pulled in 3 different directions during the week. I also make sure to schedule time away from work. When you work at home it's easy to get pulled into more and more tasks, that's why I schedule off time for myself.
What would you say are the characteristics of a great Stylepreneur?
Organized, helpful, and outgoing!
A great Stylepreneur is someone who loves to make a difference in the lives of others. It's a great way to make an income on your own schedule. There's also the sisterhood aspect of it - you have this group of women who are always there's to answer your questions or help you along the way. It's like a kinship of sorts. All in all owning your own business can be so rewarding and Henkaa has provided us with the perfect opportunity to get started down this path!
Your daughter Nicole is also a Stylepreneur! What made her want to join?
She wanted something fun to do in between her busy schedule while she's off to college. She's helped me numerous times and is also the perfect trade show assistant!
What is your favorite Henkaa dress and color?
There's too many to just pick one! Right now I'm loving the Ivy Convertible Dress in Navy Blue and in Deep Teal.
You also provide an extra service to style customers at their events - can you tell us more about this?
Definitely! I offer my clients a "day of" service where they can hire me to come on their wedding day to help them style their dresses. That way the bridal party feels beautiful and comfortable throughout the entire event.
Tell us about your favorite bridal party!
This bridal party had their heart set on the Plum Purple Sakura Midi Dress from the get-go. They knew what they wanted! The couple was married at a beautiful barn in Wisconsin which was converted to a wonderful event venue. It was early fall so all the different colors and greenery added to the beauty of the setting.
This group was so much fun to work with as you can tell from the photo! We had a great time hanging out and getting to know one another.
